Webster Word
A Note From The Trustees
Trust me, the trustees have had an active year. Renovations and upkeep have kept us busy. In the past month we have worked in cooperation with Christian Education and SCCW to ensure that Webster Church projects the image of a well-kept, clean, and safe haven.
On August 25 th and 26 th, the Trustees worked in cooperation with our Boy Scout troop to improve our property. The overgrown parcel of land adjacent to our parking lot was “transfigured” into a park area.
The Boy Scout Law states:
A Scout is …
trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly,
courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful,
thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Notice the first adjective in the Law, “trustworthy.” Prospective Eagle Scout Chris Guzman is the epitome of this law. The Church entrusted Chris to lead a group of 30 people in turning our back lot into the beginning of a beautiful park area.
Chris performed beyond our expectations. He energized everyone to ensure that this project exceeded the standards of the Eagle Scout project. Just look at the results. We now have a usable piece of land with a picnic table and a trash bin that will soon be a grassy nook.
Our church family now has a useable outdoor area for fellowship, picnics, and play. The children attending Vacation Bible School will be able to use this area for outdoor activities. Perhaps one day we’ll have nursery school full of children frolicking during recess. The possibilities are endless.
I would like to thank all those who contributed. Bill Bowman and Nolan Gallion for their efforts in overseeing the septic tank replacement. Anne and Art Helton for the generous donation of fill dirt. Scout Master, Rob Mitchell for additional topsoil, labor and equipment in finishing the land. All of the Scouts and their parents who contributed. And anyone I may have overlooked.
But most of all, I would like to thank the person who pulled it all together – Chris Guzman. He is a truly a “trustworthy” young man. The “Trustees” put our Trust in him and he exemplified what every Scout strives to be.
Thanks Chris.
