Comments and discussion during Committee Reports –
- Moderator
Grace and Levin Heath requested that if the religious pictures removed from the walls in the social hall were not going to be re-hung they would like to purchase at least one. Board approved the request, but suggested a church donation if desired.
- Treasurer's Report
All operating expenses have been paid, including the IRS and the Md. Comptroller. Report was approved.
- Trustees
Scouts have worked to seed the new lawn. Scout Guzman will present his report to the church soon. Gutters are being repaired by a general contractor and also fixing the snow guards which are pulling up the roof tiles. The septic system was fixed by Bill Bowman and Nolan Gallion. Basement has been painted and the issue with BG&E is being resolved. An estimate for cost of cutting grass in new area is being gotten.
- Diaconate
Deacons and members will continue to fill the pulpit if necessary. The PRC met with the pastor to work out a contingence plan while her mother is ill. Casey and Auggie are working on the establishment of a praise team.
- Christian Ed.
The new Sunday School curriculum makes it possible for some teachers, at times, to do the children's sermon and also attend church service.
- Outreach
Have worked very hard to advertise the church supper on Sept. 30. Items for the silent auction are being collected.
- SCCW
Picnic held on July 5 at Lyttles home was successful. The bakeless bake sale was in July and our monthly meetings started in Sept. Plans for November Bazaar are in full swing.
- Fundraising
Peach Festival was extremely successful, with all peach pies gone within 1 1/2 hours. Plans progressing for Sept Dinner, which will also include a silent auction. Advertising very well spread.
New Business –
- There is a possibility of a concert being held at our church by a professional acoustic guitarist and singer. Details are being determined to see if feasible.
- Deacon Anno is inquiring with UCC about Webster UCC becoming a God is Still Speaking Church. A speaker would come before the church and the Congregation would vote at the Annual Meeting. This very much in a formative stage.
- Rev. Jim Bell's position is reported to be terminated by the Association Board of Directors at a meeting on Sept 23.
