OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW

OCTOBER 17. 2006

 

Old Business

  • Discussed promotion of Doug Mattingly Concert scheduled for Nov. 25.
  • The matter concerning BGE being referred to Del. Barry Glassman.
  • All thermostats being set at 68 Degrees for both winter and summer and should not be changed. All groups using church will be notified.
  • Merrill Cohen was given approval to replace the Control Box on the furnace.

New Business

  • Moderator met with leaders for a jazzercise class and discussed details concerning the use of the building.
  • A revision of church constitution was suggested .

Music

  • A file is kept on all organ repairs.
  • Organ repairman caused Auggie to lose all of his settings.
  • Praise Team Sunday was felt to be rewarding.

Outreach

  • A good job was done for the Rededication Service publicity.
  • New families have been greeted and more letters have been sent to visitors.

Trustees

  • More information about a pre-school center has been obtained, such as facilities, costs, equipment, etc.
  • A few slates and gutter repair has been completed .

Deacons

  • Laity Sunday will be passed over this year since the Diaconate has handled numerous services to aid Pastor Lonna during her family concerns.
  • Stewardship Sunday will be Nov. 12.

Christian Education

  • Sunday school is progressing nicely with both new curriculum and new members. Halloween Party is scheduled for Oct 28 th and a movie night for the Youth was held on Oct. 20 th.
  • The Youth Retreat in Ocean City is scheduled in November with 6-7 youths attending, with chaperone and minister.
  • An Adult confirmation class is being considered.

SCCW

  • Full speed ahead for the bazaar in November. Everyone’s help is appreciated as there are many activities planned such as Bake Table, Country Store, Silent Auction, etc.
  • On Dec. 6 th at 7:00 pm, the annual Christmas Party will be held at the parsonage. Our Organist and Choir Director will lead Carol singing. A gift exchange will take place.

Fundraising

  • The Fall Dinner raised approximately $3,500 profit. Plans are now being made for next year.
  • The November Bazaar will feature the men of the church doing the food and special soup. This is in addition to the tables provided by the women
