A Message From Your Pastor

Each time I look around the church, the sanctuary, the social hall, the Sunday school rooms and the grounds, I am reminded of how far we have come in so little time. Our church is now such a beautiful place in which to celebrate and dedicate ourselves to the Glory of God.

For my family, it has been a challenge with Mom’s illness, yet I have felt the love and support of each one of you, for which Mom and I feel truly grateful and blessed by your presence.

As we look forward to the Thanksgiving holidays and the Advent Season, I truly believe that these days will bring us even closer together, as we have been growing in love for Christ and sharing the joy of being members of His Body.

We welcome with joy, our new members, the Reynolds Family: Bill, Joyce and Greg, and we look forward to sharing the love of Christ with them, and we are grateful for their participation in the life of the church.

I feel that as we have been growing the church, we have been growing in the faith, in the hard times, as well as the times of abundance.

There is a poem I would like to share with you, one that has inspired me throughout these past few months. It is entitled:

In the Valleys I Grow

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe.
It’s then I have to remember,
That it’s in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top,
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God’s love,
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn,
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountaintops,
But it’s in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing,
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing,
When I picture Christ on the cross.
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan’s loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining,
When I’m feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder,
That it’s in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me Lord,
And use my life each day,
To share your love with others,
And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord,
For this one thing I know,
The mountaintops are glorious,
But It’s in the valleys I grow!

Have a blessed November, and remember the shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor.

Love and Peace,

Pastor Lonna
