OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW, JUNE 2007
Board Members present - 9, Guests – 2.
The meeting was opened by prayer.
Secretary –
- The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Treasurer -
- Present balance of $3423 in checking.
- The cost of fuel from Ferrell Co. was discussed.
- The church cleaner has broken her leg and cleaning work will be done by her family until her recovery.
- Possible future costs include painting of some ceiling tiles in sanctuary due to water damage.
- The Treasurer's report was approved.
Stewardship –
- A one-half year accounting will be done by the end of June.
- Current revenue for 2007 is higher than the past year.
- Insurance costs have risen from about $5500 to $8100 for current year.
- Bids have been received for rates from other companies that include all areas of insurance needs such as property, personnel properties, liability (covers to $1,000,000) workman's comp, etc. Bid is about $2400 less than current costs. This bid was approved. This info. will be forwarded to the UCC.
- A motion was approved to increase the secretary cost. An amendment was then presented and approved to cover the gutter repair fees and the secretary cost increase by adjusting the budget as a contingency reserve from the endowment fund.
Moderator –
- Special appeal was made for all Board members to help and secure help for the Peach Festival. July 5 is Dough Day. Help is needed for making pies and helping to sell.
Deaconate –
- The Deacons have spent considerable time in planning for summer services and additional services if needed during Lonna's absences from the pulpit. A very spiritual confirmation service was well received.
Ass't. Moderator –
- The Pastoral Relations Committee met recently with the minister for purposed of general discussion and concluding of a new contract. No issues from the congregation were heard. Emphasis included stressing that the minister should spend the bulk of her time with spiritual work and not on administrative affairs.
Christian Education –
- Children's church service will be June 10 and Vacation Bible School will be July 8 - 12. Assistant teachers are needed.
- The Youth Group has been active as it attended a movie night and sold items at the sale of a house on Webster Rd. Money made will be used for the Youth Group. The Youth Group includes youth through the tenth grade. The money earned will be combined with the Ashley Fund.
Outreach –
- The repairs to the church signs is in progress.
- The Outreach and Fundraising Committees will meet before the Peach Festival. Outreach Committee meetings will be suspended for July and August.
SCCW –
- The Mother's Day Dinner was a great time for all and $300 profit was realized.
Fundraising –
- The Doug Mattingly Concert is scheduled for June 23.
- The possibility of a Basket Bingo Fundraiser was discussed. It will be held in the future after congregation approval.
New Business –
- The Board approved longer working hours for the secretary.
- Gary and Doris Lytlle will not be attending the Conference Meeting.
- The Board approved the letter to be sent to the Walstrum Family.
- Kelly Hower is subbing as secretary in her home until the return of Linda.
- Due to insurance rulings no person helping the church while at home may be paid for their contributed time.
Only emergency Official Board Meetings will be held in August and July.
