Webster Word

Christian Education Update

Our Sunday School/Youth Church Service was wonderful! What a great group of children and youth we have at Webster Church. I want to thank all of the participants for working so hard in preparing for their parts and learning the songs and getting up in front of the congregation on June 10 th. I especially want to thank Patsy, Katie, Woody, Andy, and Greg for sharing their experiences as confirmands during the Message part of the service. I also want to thank all the wonderful Sunday School teachers who taught the children this year – Heidi, Chris, Linda, Mary, and Dianna. Thanks ladies!

We are preparing for a fun-filled Vacation Bible School. VBS will be held at Hopewell Methodist Church from Sunday, July 8 through Thursday, July 12 from 6-8 p.m. If you know of any children who would like to participate in VBS but have not yet registered, please see Woody or Kelly Hower. Likewise, if any youth or adults would like to be helpers during Bible School, please see Woody or Kelly. The final evening of VBS is open to the entire congregation. Please join us at Hopewell at 6 pm on Thursday, July 12 th for the closing ceremonies. We are sponsoring two worthy missions this year for VBS, which will help local people in addition to children around the world. Our local mission is Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program, which is a therapeutic horseback riding program for the benefit of people who are physically, mentally or emotionally challenged and is located in Cecil County, MD. For more information, go to www.freedomhills.org. The second mission is Operation Kid-to-Kid. To fulfill this mission, the children will make stuffed Prayer Bears that say “Jesus Loves Me” in multiple languages. After VBS, we will send these stuffed bears to orphaned children in Africa. For more information, go to www.group.com/ok2k. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for these missions. If you would like to contribute to the mission projects, you may write a check to Hopewell Church and note that it is for VBS missions. Such donations may be submitted at VBS or any time between now and July 12 th to Heidi, Kelly, Woody, or me.

On Sunday, July 15 th, the children will be the guest musicians. They will be performing some of their VBS songs for the congregation. Parents – please make every effort to have your children attend church this day to share their gift of music with the congregation.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Cohen, Christian Ed Chairperson
