OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW

December 19. 2006

There were 9 members of the Official Board, plus 2 Committee Ch. , and 3 interested persons present.

The Moderator called the meeting to order and Pastor Lonna opened it with prayer. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of the November meeting. o

Minister's Report - Good news was that there were 17 persons who joined the church this month, plus 4 baptism.

Moderator's Comments - The entire congregation was thanked for their hard work and accomplishments during the past two years of his tenure. In turn, he was thanked by the Official Board for his excellent leadership.

Treasurer's Report - Due to absence of the Treasurer the monthly report was presented by the Stewardship Ch. $2000 has been received from the SCCW. Efforts are being made to get all financial records onto a computer. The Board will be more aware of the exact monies and be able to know where each committee stands in the use of its money budgeted. It was moved and seconded to accept the report.

Nominating Com. Report - The chairman stated that the committee found many people (over 40) willing to serve the church in some category. An effort was made to clarify who are the Official Bd., who are on the Pastoral Relations Com., and to show how the Sunday School staff and the Bd. of Christian Ed. are intertwined. Committee found this charge to be rewarding.

Music Com. Report - Possibility has been discussed of organist having the option of being self-employed. Discussion will continue in January.

Outreach Com. Report - The chair and the entire Official Bd. expressed the feeling that this committee has done an outstanding job during the past year.

Diaconate Report - Considerable work has been done to prepare for the Christmas Eve services. The 5:00 pm service will be a more traditional service. Pastor Lonna will be away on the Dec. 31 and the Lyttles and the choir will give the morning service.

Christian Ed. Com. Report - Plans are made and being practiced by the Sunday School for the Christmas Program. 31 parts are given out and the Youth Group is a big help. Another Sun. Sch. class may be needed in the near future. VBS plans will start being formulated in Jan. and the decision if to unite with other churches will be discussed.

SCCW Report - A wonderful Christmas Party with carol singing and gift exchange was held in Dec. with 17 ladies present

Stewardship Com. Report - The preparation of the budget has been a struggle due to unexpected expenses, but the year should end in the black. Next years budget reflects what we expect in in revenue, not what the church needs. The minister will probably receive no raise and we must budget more for electricity and insurance. A change in the OCWM will be discussed at the annual meeting.

Secretary Report - Health Dept. called about scheduling a water check. Secretary will no longer be working at a library. She has received some voluntary help in church office in December, but more will be needed in the winter. The Easter materials must be prepared early.

Fundraising - Candle sales have gotten off to a good start. If interested, please contact Heidi Pensell.

New Business - An amendment to the constitution will be presented at the annual meeting pertaining to the make-up of the Diaconate. Art Helton moved the Official Board approve this change and Curtis Cohen seconded it. Motion passed. Julie Akers is unable to continue as housekeeper for the church, but is willing to coordinate work if additional volunteers come forward.

Old Business - The diaconate is in the process of updating the church rolls. Much discussion occurred concerning the use of the church by the group "Jazzercise." This includes insurances, use of building three times a week, and their providing of baby sitting services.
