OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW

November 21. 2006

There were 10 members of the board present. Others participated.

A motion to approve the October minutes was approved.

October’s Treasurer's report was accepted after discussion about Ralph Walker Fund, Revitalization Fund, NIN, BG&E, and drop-off of plate contributions. Thus far the 21st Century Fund has not been tapped.

New Business

A grant is available for new church signs, but placement and type has not been finalized and the time grant is available is very short.

Committee requests for budget inclusion are now due.

A motion was approved to form a sub-committee from the Diaconate and Music Com. to coordinate special services.

Christmas Eve Services are scheduled as follows: Music Concert - 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm and Church Service will begin at 5:00 pm.

Reports

Pastor - Five new members will join church next week. There will be a coffee hour to greet them after church. A motion was approved to grant Pastor Lonna a vacation on Dec. 31, 2006.

Moderator - Emphasized the excellent service provided by the Diaconate on past Sunday with special note of Ann Muir's talk. Still having talks with BG&E. Ralph Walker's family gladly agreed to use the memorial money given in memory of Ralph for updating the electrical system for the entire church.

Stewardship - Committee is waiting for pledges to be turned in. Budget can then be developed. Expressed a concern about plate money given other than pledges.

Music - Choir Director wishes salary be put into music materials. Organ repairs were discussed. Two others of same model have been returned to factory. Concern by Carol that the MIDI was not returned also. Pleased that substitute organ is capable of same music as ours.

Outreach - Pleased with fireside chat held at the home of the Lyttles. Many adults and children attended.

Trustees - A slight leak in one of the heat pumps. Company is serching for it so freon will not leak. Gutters need cleaning and will be done soon.

Deaconate - Tenured church families will light the Advent candles. On Friday, Dec. 8, a potluck supper will be held at 6:00 pm. followed by the making of the greens to be hung on Sunday, Dec. 10. Don't miss these events as fellowship is great. Also, the food, and making the greens is fun. A pre-lit 7 ft. tree has been given to the church by Dorothy Ann. With the absence of Rev. Lonna on the Dec 31, plans are being made to fill the pulpit by our members.

Christian Ed . - The Fall term has now been completed in Sunday School. Practice for a program being presented on Christmas Eve has begun. Following the service, a birthday party for Jesus will be held. Brought gifts will be given to Harford's House. Giving for the Thanksgiving Day meal supplied to needy families was generous. The Youth  Group had an excellent experience at the Youth Retreat held in Ocean City. A meal at a local restaurant will be done on Dec. 3.

SCCW - The bazaar was successful as the kitchen and bazaar cleared about $2,044. Christmas Party will be held at the parsonage on Dec. 4. Join the group and bring a gift for the exchange.

Fundraising - A Christmas candle fundraiser will begin after Thanksgiving. Don't forget the aluminum can being collected.

Motion to adjourn passed.
