A Message From the Trustees

As the year comes to an end, the Trustees are wrapping up the year in an electrifying fashion. The air conditioners/heat pumps have been working well to keep our church at a reasonable temperature. Heat pumps work well when the outside temperature is moderate. But cold months await us and heat pumps don’t work well in cold temperatures.

Fortunately, we’ve been working on a solution that will allow the heat pumps to work in the cold months. We recently had BGE upgrade our electricity in the church so that we can install electric heat strips as a cold-weather assist. The heat strips will be completed by the end of the year, just in time for our cold January month.

Having the heat pump/heat strip system allows us to maintain the church at a constant temperature. As you may know various groups use our church nearly everyday. Cycling the temperature of the church from cold to warm has proven more costly than keeping it at a set temperature of 68 degrees. And, the trustees are not fighting a temperamental furnace that constantly requires our attention, not to mention repair costs.

As a backup, Merrill Cohen had Ferrell Fuel clean our furnace, which had not been properly cleaned in years. It’s nice to know that we have this furnace as a backup system.

On another note, we will be having our gutters cleaned now that all the leaves are downed.

We have approximately 3 trees that need to be removed from the area next to the parking lot. If you know of anyone who’s interested in removing the trees for firewood, please let me know.
