MinistriesBenevolence Ministry: Webster Church serves those in the community who are experiencing financial hardship by participating in Grace Place, which provides meals on Tuesdays. We also collect food and money for FISH to help those who need food or fuel bills paid. Child Care: There is a nursery for children two years of age or younger that is provided for those parents who wish to place their children in a supervised care setting and participate more fully in the Sunday service. Christian Education Program: The Christian Education program at Webster Church is open to, loving, and accepting of all God's children The volunteers who run the program are loving individuals who emulate our savior, Jesus Christ. The education program is Biblically based and designed to invite the children to develop a faithful relationship with God and his beloved son. Jesus said, "...let the children come to me," (Matthew 19:14). At Webster Church the children are accepted and guided as individuals who are created in God's image. Upon entering a Sunday school classroom, one is often impressed by the guiding presence of Jesus Christ, as children enthusiastically study, work, and play in a joyous and relaxed atmosphere. Through stories, crafts, choral singing, the children's sermon and special events, the children learn the meaning of true discipleship and how to live and act as dedicated Christians. As our children develop, they are invited to participate in youth activities and our acolyte program. Click here for information about Power Lab Vacation Bible School 2008! Outreach Ministry: This committee spreads the good news of the Christian Faith to the newly relocated or unchurched families, to inform them of the heritage and beliefs of the United Church of Christ and to solicit their participation in the fulfillment of the mission of the Webster UCC. They will recommend to the church, involvement in community mission programs and other church programs which can include the wider community. SCCW (Society of Congregational Christian Women): The SCCW (women's ministry) meets at 7:00 p.m., the first Wednesday of the month. The meeting begins with devotions. After a brief business meeting, there is usually a guest speaker or other program, followed by refreshments provided by one of the ladies. We meet in the home of the hostess or in the church social hall. All ladies of the church are invited to attend. Besides the dollar a month dues, we also pass the basket for donations toward the expenses for cards and other remembrances sent to ill or grieving members of the congregation. In honor of baptisms, we place a bud vase with a rose in the church the Sunday of the baptism. We monitor the purchase of flowers for the altar each Sunday. In March, we host a Women's Day of Prayer. In May the annual Mother's Day Banquet is served and in November, we organize the church bazaar and silent auction. In the course of the year we hold various fund raisers and respond to various situations calling for the provision of a meal or a reception. Stewardship Ministry: This committee develops a stewardship campaign to explain the goals of the church to its members, to develop priorities for the entire church membership in participation in the work of the church, and to develop a proposed annual budget for submission to the Official Board. Trustee Ministry: The Board of Trustees serve as legal trustee of the Church and have the care and custody of the property of the Church as a sacred trust, whether real or personal, in accordance with provisions of the Articles of Incorporation and the Constitution and By-Laws and under the direction of the Official Board. |
