Christian Ed Update

We are excited about a great year for Christian Education, with our kick-off on Rally Day (September 9 th). Please join us after Church and Sunday School for a pot luck and ice cream social – you bring a dish for the pot luck and Sunday School will provide all the fixings for ice cream sundaes.

We will continue to hold Sunday School for the children and youth downstairs after the Children’s Sermon. Sunday School will be broken down into three groups: Pre-K/Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School/Youth. Chris Gorham and Kelly Hower will be teaching the Pre-K/Kindergarten and Elementary classes; Dianna Bartlett and Mary McFarland will be teaching the Middle School/Youth class; Heidi Pensell and Susan Cohen will be teaching “specials” (music, handbells, games).

We are looking for volunteers in the nursery. Please let Susan or Heidi know if you would be interested in taking a turn watching the babies in the nursery from time to time during Church.

Our “junior singers” were a big hit at Harford Memorial Hospital in August. They delivered hand-made cards and gifts to patients and sang lots of songs. Everyone (children and adults) reported having a rewarding time visiting our own Walter and the other patients at the hospital. We have been asked to return, and we are very excited about that.

We also hope to sponsor a “lunch and learn” after Church one Sunday this fall/winter – stay tuned for more information.
