A Message From Your Pastor
Pastor’s Message
Dear Webster Family,
I hope you are enjoying the cool mornings of October, as I am. I enjoy sitting on the front porch, watching the birds come to the feeder, while I am surrounded by the beauty of the colorful mums (gifts from church family and friends). Thanks to the Hower's, who power washed the porch, and to Graham, Teresa, and the Duffy’s, who spent hours painting the swings, rails and the shudders, the front porch looks very nice and inviting to all who visit. Come over for coffee in the morning, or tea in the afternoon, and have good fellowship and sharing our Christian walk together.
September was a very busy and rewarding month. Rally Day was well attended, and we blessed the book bags for all the students (for the first time) so they will take the love of Jesus with them wherever they go. (Joshua 1:9) I am grateful for everyone who continues to be faithful in their attendance at worship. For those who are new to Webster, you may notice that the joy we share together is contagious. Our music director and the choir provide such inspiration to me, and our leaders for children and youth programs are outstanding and we are growing by leaps and bounds! I hope you feel you are all warmly welcomed back as we celebrate the love of Christ and get to know each other better. What are your talents? Do you like to sing? Come and join our choir! Do you enjoy working with children and youth? Come with us when we celebrate them! We have our Halloween party on October 20 th, and we plan to gather for fellowship and outreach at the Presbyterian Church in Churchville on Sunday, October 21 to meet our neighbors who live close by. Do you like to cook or bake or make crafts? Our SCCW Fall Bazaar will be on November 3 rd, where everyone from children to seniors will come together for a fun day and lots of good food.
The Spirit of love and fellowship is alive and well here at Webster, and my hope is that you will continue to come and share your Christian walk with us. The UCC motto says, “That they may all be one”, from the gospel of John: 17:21, as Jesus prays for all believers. We are the UCC, and we pray for each of you that you will open your hearts to the love and fellowship of Christ, that your life will reflect the intention of your Creator who loves you and wants you to enjoy him forever.
I would like to share with you a poem that my father taught me, many years ago. I think of it every October. I believe the author is anonymous, and if you can find the rest of the poem, please send it along to me.
(from memory)
“October gave a party
The leaves by hundreds came
From chestnuts, oaks and maples,
And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet and
Everything was grand.
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind, the band…… ”
May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you in his care.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Lonna
