Things are looking up. I can hobble faster, and my arm muscles are shy of a boxer’s.

The fall season is upon us with warm days and cool nights. Notice those colorful leaf changes? In a few weeks it’s Thanksgiving which means Christmas is around the corner. Counting November, there are only 55 days left. I watched the Halloween decorations go up and the Thanksgiving ones as well. Looks like the family will put up the Christmas decorations, too. At least I can still do the cards, which is my favorite activity besides baking and eating the cookies. Thanks to all my friends and family at Webster for cards, prayers, comical e-mails and food. It has made my “boo-boo” survival the best. In Christ all is made possible.

Did you know . . . . . “The Holy Light!” Every Pascha in Jerusalem, there is a miracle that has been occurring for centuries. The miracle takes place in the actual tomb of Jesus Christ, known as the Holy Sepulcher. Here is the account of the miracle according to Patriarch Diodor of Jerusalem: “I enter the tomb . . . . .” (Go to www.holyfire.org/eng for the complete article.)

Bessie is a gem to the church and to all who know her. I appreciate and thank you Bessie for all that you did. Never has anyone been so generous!

Roman came in again, and the young couple celebrated their first anniversary even though it wasn’t until the 27 th. They worked on the frozen top of their wedding cake celebrated with a glass (souvenirs) of fake champagne from the people at the Red Caboose Motel last year where they spent their honeymoon. I saved the bottle all this time in the frig. Their ideal anniversary was to be out to dinner at Willow Valley, Pa. as a family. Lily was quite a sensation at the Friday restaurant in Bel Air, and then later all piled in the bedroom for a night at the movies - - video. Joe and I always celebrated our anniversary with children (except the 25 th), and we are headed for our 28 th!

Amelia’s ex-history teacher at HdG Middle is Mr. Ewart, better known to the community as Pastor Glenn Ewart of “The Encouraged Church.” He wrote an article (too long to quote) in the STAR dated 9/20/07 - - “You can’t Win a Race with a Weight on Your Back!” - - “Have you even seen . . . . . these weights . . . . . past disappointments, present difficulties, and worries about the future . . . . . win your spiritual race . . . . . allow Jesus to take the weight off your back!” Find a copy and read the words between the dots.

MySpace.com may bee a conversation tool for our young people, but predators are having a field day. Information posted can connect them to our children, as well as private information can connect to identity thieves. Do not post medical information, schools, sports or any tell-tale biops to one’s whereabouts. Even the authorities are now monitoring them. Cell phones in the hands of our children are not a gift - - only a tool to trouble.

George Knight is doing better. Robert G. Smith has had numerous complications from his heart surgery that he still remains hospitalized now for almost two months. Unfortunately, he is being kept in a medical coma.

I heard the Halloween Party was a success. Lily won a prize. Good job on providing our children with a safe environment filled with fun. Sorry to miss the hay ride, but I don’t think even a boost would have gotten me on. Roman is due in on Thanksgiving. November 9 th is the Marine Ball. Amelia can’t make it, but his sister Allison will in her place. Lily has two bottom teeth amazingly without incident. We mothers know that colds, ear infections and fevers can occur.

Frank Steinhilber graduated from Howard County Fire School on October 25 th and had his first assignment on the 26 th. There were 13 of us attending plus friends and co-workers of Frank’s to see this beautiful ceremony. Frank requested that Joe go up on stage and place a pin on his collar. Both were very emotional and exchanged a special father/son hug.

There have been several craft days at my sister’s that I miss. Everyone paints, provides good food, and enjoy gossip. It’s only open to us girls. Sorry fellas!

My cast was cut off by my sister - - she works at the orthopedic office with what looked like a chain saw. I am now in a boot and am learning how to maneuver in a wheel chair. I go back Nov 2 nd.

Sad to learn the Cooleys will move. We will miss them, but know at this time in their lives it is for the best.

Hope everyone celebrating October birthdays and anniversaries had wonderful times. And my wish is the same for those who will celebrate in the month of November.

Remember, our service men and women chose to join, chose to serve, and chose to help. They did not choose to die. Let us continue to honor them and frown upon those who dishonor their memory and life by protesting at their funerals.

Anyone that has news, please call me at (410) 734-7538.
