OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW
October 1, 2007
Meeting called to order by Moderator Curtis Cohen. Nine members present.
Motion to accept previous Board Minutes of previous meeting was approved.
The exact amount of profit from the church supper still not available due to some monies not yet collected and some bills still to be paid.
Discussed cost of heating oil and it is in budgeted amount.
Church funds are stable at this time.
Motion made, seconded, and passed to accept Treasurers report for Sept. 2007.
Possibility of replacing the candlesticks on the altar was tabled for now.
Handling of monies received in memorial fund were clarified.
Current spending is to be curbed until pledges and 2008 budget is done.
Rev. Lonna received permission for 5 days vacation in near future.
On World Communion Sunday Rev. Pat Barth, Interim Association President, will conduct service.
Fireside chat will be held at Lyttle's on Oct. 17.
Other important dates - Halloween Party, Oct. 20; Rev. Jim Bell's installation service, Oct. 21; Boy Scout Court of Honor, Oct. 24; Assoc. Meeting,Oct. 27.
Board agreed that Rev. Lonna can switch working days within a given week.
Moderator asked Gary Lyttle to chair Nominating Com. for 2008.
Due to foot injury, Carol Gallion resigned as Outreach Ch. The Board approved to have Woody Hower take that position for remainder of year.
Moderator C. Cohen wants to have a Certificate of Appreciation be designed in order to recognize people for extra work done for the church.
Annual reports will soon be due.
A stand for the convection oven was discussed. Want to have before Nov.
It was moved, seconded and passed to establish a committee to compose a standard order of procedure for committees and concerns in the church. Will report at the annual meeting for approval.
Office hours for Church Secretary are 11:00 am to 1:30 pm Mon. thru Thurs.
Information for monthly calendar are to be given to Church Secretary by end of current month. Additional letter heads for the church will be produced in the church office. Information for weekly bulletin is to be in to Secretary by Wednesday of preceding week.
Pastoral Relations Com. met and discussed-
Use of phone chain will be determined by the PRC
List for parishioner notification will be used thru e-mail for long term items
Ways to contact persons absent from church for a period of time.
The front porch of the parsonage is in need of repair.
Further repairs are needed in Ladies Restroom.
Youth Group retreat in Ocean City - Nov.-16-18. Board voted to approve allocating up to $300 per child for any new members to attend.
A stencil is being made for use on the roadside church sign.
Follow up "thank you" letters are being sent to visitors. Follow-up to new families with children is being done, also.
Newspaper lists Webster Congregational Christian Church under non-denominational, as it has for years. Request made to place it under Denominational as UCC. Sunday Services are no longer listed unless a special service .
Deacons are busy preparing for the coming Christmas season.
SCCW is busy getting baked goods and items for their Annual Fall Bazaar. Orders for various pies will be available over the website.
Fund Raising Com. feels that it is very close to making its budget pledge. Work on updating the record book is continuing.
