Webster Word
A Message From Your Pastor
Dear Webster Family,
As I write to you, I see many of our SCCW ladies over at the church preparing for our annual bazaar. The new convection oven is being installed, the apples are ready to be peeled and baked and the crafts and other items are being set up for Saturday. The weather report looks quite nice for this Saturday, and I hope we have a good turnout and a great time of fellowship together.
This past month of October was very busy for all of us. I attended the new Harford County Ecumenical Pastor's Association at St. Margaret's Church in Bel Air, and I will be bringing you more news of our mission as we become more organized and we're able to reach out to the various churches in the area.
I was able to go to Boston to visit my best friend from seminary and celebrate her recent ordination. We attended an event at her parish presented by Father L. Narvaez Gomez, Executive Director of the Fundacion Para La Reconciliacion, in Colombia, South America. Father Narvaez Gomes is the recipient of the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, 2006. Soon, I will be sharing more about him and his world mission for peace, as I would like to offer you some education and insight about social justice, forgiveness and reconciliation, as I become more familiar with his work.
I also had the opportunity to attend a conference presented by Joyce Meyer ministries, and I learned much more about Christian mission around the world. I would like to pass this learning experience on to you as well.
There was a Court of Honor for Troop 965, where I offered the invocation and the benediction. It was well-attended, and I was happy to see that we now have more scout families attending our services at Webster, as we support each others' efforts to serve our community.
There was a mandatory lecture presented at Upper Chesapeake Health Services concerning the possibility of a flu pandemic. All staff members of the hospitals were required to attend, and we have received our flu shots. I encourage you to protect yourselves against flu this year. The flu mist is now offered to children, and that is very helpful for the children and their parents too.
It won't be long before we will enter into the Advent season. The days are getting colder and shorter, so we know the season is just around the corner. I look forward to celebrating another season of anticipating the birth of the Christ child, and hoping that you will invite your friends to come and celebrate with us.
May the peace of the Lord be with you for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving as we look forward to our holiday season together.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Lonna
