OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW
April 2007
Nine Board Members present, plus five guests.
Motions passed –
- Approval of March meeting minute
- Acceptance of Treasurer's Report
- Approval of expenditure of up to $3000 to replace fascia boards and gutters by an approved contractor.
- To amend the budget to include an additional $3500 under special collections and add $3500 to the Trustees budget to cover gutter repair.
Pastor –
- A confirmation class of five young people will soon be completed. They have been an excellent group by attending all meetings and participating in various church events in addition to their meetings.
- There will be a Court of Honor for the Boy Scouts.
- The church will be used for a wedding.
- Jazzercise is requesting additional dates.
Treasurer –
- The giving for the first quarter was excellent, even though there were no months with five Sundays.
- Due to a misunderstanding the church insurance bill is much more than was budgeted. Our insurances will be reviewed and recommendations will be made. This must be done before July 1.
- Adjustments will likely be needed in the current budget.
Moderator –
- Complimented the Pastor and all involved for the excellent worship services throughout Easter Week.
Ass't. Moderator –
- Pastoral Relations Committee has met and established goals and objectives. A regular meeting will soon be held with three weeks prior notice.
Trustees –
- A mini-spring cleanup was held.
- Plans were announced for the removal of the Bradford pear trees.
- Three receptacles for recycling were placed throughout the church.
- Thermostats are to be set on 55 degrees during the heating season when church is not being used.
- Dave Brown will assume role as troubleshooter for our sound system.
Stewardship –
- Copies of the budget as it now stands were distributed.
- Gutter repairs were added to the budget.
Christian Education –
Two major decisions involving the Sunday School were announced. First, enrollment has reached a point that two more teachers have been added and classes have been split. Secondly, Sunday School will be held every other Sunday this coming summer.
- Easter Sunday was a wonderful morning for the entire school.
- Plans continue for the Vacation Bible School to be held July 8-12, 2007.
- Graduation Sunday will be June 10.
Music –
- Music Committee and Deacons agreed that there is really no need for an ad hoc committee composed of members from each committee.
- The Deacons will continue to be responsible for the worship services and the Music Com. will plan appropriate music.
Outreach –
- Members are now zeroing in on the various church signs. Various regulations concerning signs were discussed.
- T-shirts are being ordered.
Deacons –
- All Easter services went according to plans and were well received.
- Plans for the June 10 (Graduation Sunday) service are being made.
SCCW –
- Mother's Day Dinner is coming soon and plans are well on the way.
- The Pizza/Cookie Sale was a successful fundraiser. Over $500 was cleared.
Fundraising –
- Plans for May 5 yard sale are well on their way.
- Much time was spent discussing the Jazzercise use of the building concerning conflicting dates.
- The admission charge for the Doug Mattingly Concert on June 23 will be split with the church.
- Coming up - Peach Festival, Aug. 18; Church Supper, Sept. 29.
