Christian Ed Update

We finished 2007 with a very busy December.  I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.

Thanks to everyone in our congregation and Boy Scout Troup 965 for your contributions to our two adopted families.  I wish I had taken a picture of all the presents and the bags and boxes of food that we were able to provide to these families.  It was quite an amazing sight when they were all gathered together in the Sunday School area downstairs before distribution.

Several families enjoyed the trip to the Christmas Village at the beginning of December.  Shawna made a lovely photo collage that has been in the narthex.  If you haven't seen it yet, you should take a look.  I can't decide if the Christmas lights or the massive ice cream Sunday looks more fun!

Frosty weather on the 7th resulted in the cancellation of our annual pot luck and preparation of the greens and family night.  However, we decided to prepare the greens and make Christmas ornaments on Saturday the 8th prior to Christmas caroling.  As usual, the children and youth made Christmas ornaments that they hung on the tree during the Hanging of the Greens service on Sunday the 9th.

We had a blast Christmas caroling around Webster Village.  This wasn't your typical caroling, mind you.  Woody drove his truck and pulled us around on a large flat-bed "trailer" like we were on a parade float.  In addition to singing, we enjoyed popcorn and hot chocolate on the float. My favorite part of the caroling was when Lindsey lost her tooth while eating popcorn and we all had to sort through the popcorn to find her missing tooth -- not an easy task in the dark!  Thanks to Natalie for making the find!

The children and youth worked very hard on their Christmas Pageant this year.  Everyone had a special part, and I am so proud of each person's contribution.  It can be hard to get up in front of the congregation and say your lines or sing a song, but you sure couldn't tell if any of them were nervous.  Great job!!!

We are now planning for a fun 2008 with our ever-expanding Sunday School and Youth Group.  If anyone is interested in getting involved with Christian Ed this year -- including an adult Christian Education program -- please let me know.  Also, we are still seeking volunteers for the nursery.  If interested, please sign up in the narthex or see Linda P. Happy New Year!
