Pastor’s Message

Dear Webster Family,

It was such a joy (thanks to you) to wear my favorite Chico’s outfit to Praise Sunday services! It took me back to the days when the Praise Team played and everyone was so happy to participate in the service. We look forward to the “New” Praise Team leading us in worship on a seasonal basis! Thanks to all of our talented musicians and their commitment to providing a memorable worship experience for all of us, generation after generation!

Can you believe it? It seems we just came through Christmas, and we are now coming into the season of Lent! Ash Wednesday is on February 6 th, where we will journey with our Lord down to Jerusalem and ultimately to the cross. It is a time of remembrance and forgiveness during those dark days of winter, but then comes the Son, and we share the joy of our Risen Savior on March 23. You are invited to share in this experience with us as we prepare our hearts for this most important season in the life of the church.

Our Youth Group has been very active and continues to plan some special activities for this coming year. The Youth Group of Churchville Presbyterian Church has joined with us on several occasions, for our trip to “Youth for Christ” in Ocean City in November and they gathered again for Christmas caroling and a “lock-in” at their church. All of these activities have been made possible by our very capable leaders, Heidi Pensell and Woody and Kelly Hower, whose reaching out and dedication to young people has made a significant difference in the lives of so many families in our community. Thank you for your enthusiasm and your perseverance. Our young people look forward to gathering together at every opportunity. Well done, and very much appreciated!

For the devotion of all of our Children’s ministry team, for bringing them to sing at the hospital and even to Havre de Grace City Counsel, I am grateful to you, their parents and leaders and so proud of the children who love to come to church and then who go out into the community and share their faith, their gifts and their talents with others. All of you are a blessing to Webster CC UCC and all who come in contact with you. Many people have said that you are such an inspiration in the community, and surely, you are an inspiration to me. Your love for God and your service to God’s people is what makes my life full and enjoyable every day. When the Lord said, “Follow me”, he didn’t say it would be easy, but he did promise us that he would be with us….always.

May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you in his care as we enter this season of Lent and let’s prepare for the miracle that is the foundation of our faith.
