Webster Word
Christian Ed Update
Christian Ed has lots of exciting events planned during Lent and Easter:
In an effort to expand Christian Ed beyond children and youth, I wanted challenge the congregation to participate in the Read the Bible in 90 Days program. With this program, you can read the entire Bible in 90 days. Each day requires approximately 7-12 pages of reading. A schedule of the readings is attached to this issue of the Webster Word. Study materials are also available. If enough people are interested in participating and taking part in a study group, I will obtain the materials. Please let me know.
Our annual Mardi Gras Karaoke Party will be Saturday, February 9 th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. This is always a fun time for children and adults. I think I enjoy the Karaoke singing more than anyone! Please feel free to invite your friends for a fun afternoon of singing, beads, crafts, snacks, and fellowship.
The elementary classes in Sunday School will be starting the Hands On Bible curriculum from Group on February 3 rd. This is a fun program where children read the Bible and learn to have a relationship with Jesus and each other. I have purchased special Hands On Bibles for each child in the class. The Hands On Bibles contain not only the actual text of the Bible, but also special messages and activities for children to make the Bible “user friendly.” The cost of the Bibles went beyond our Christian Ed budget but I feel it is an important part of the curriculum, so I purchased them myself. The Bibles were $11 each. While I would appreciate parents of elementary school children reimbursing me the $11 for each of your children to have a Hands On Bible, this is not required.
Ms. Mary will be leading a Seder Meal for all children and youth during Sunday School on Sunday, March 9 th.
Then annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for March 15 th, from 3:00 to 4:00 in the Social Hall (and outside, if the weather permits). Please mark your calendars and invite your friends.
Easter Sunday will be a Family Sunday, meaning that there will be no Sunday School. Hopefully our children will present a special song or message during Children’s Time on Easter.
We would like to have a special class for our preschoolers. If you are interested in taking turns teaching such a class after Children’s Time during church, please let me know. We already have the curriculum – but we could use a few extra teachers. The teachers would take turns, so you would not have to teach every Sunday. Please let me know if you are interested.
If you are interested in taking a turn in the nursery, please let Linda know. FYI, you can hear the service in the nursery.
If you are interested in starting an adult Christian Ed program at Webster Church, please let me know.
Thanks, everyone, for your support of Christian Ed!!!
