In memoriam
Ruth Iduno Reeder
(Sister of Vernon Eddington)
May 1, 1920 - November 27, 2007
Today we will celebrate the life of a dearly departed member, Ruth Reeder. A couple months ago, Susan and I spent time with Ruth and she brightened our day with her enthusiastic outlook on life. She was a pistol. She left a lasting impression on us that day. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was a day I will never forget. And now we are mourning our loss. We take solace in the fact that her brother Vernon lovingly sat with her day after day seeing her out of this world and into the next. We only hope that we have a rock of stability and love in our own lives. We also take solace that we will all have a church community and a spiritual leader supporting us in a time of need. To me, this is what our church is all about – Community. We will miss Ruth and we will never forget her love of life and of her brother. She set an example for all of us to achieve.
I asked Gary Lyttle to chair the Nominating Committee consisting of Susan Cohen, Ann Helton and Woody Hower. The Committee has filled the positions, but we will also take nominations from the floor during the annual meeting when we will vote on our new leadership. The annual meeting will be held on the 3 rd Friday in January. All are encouraged to attend. The nominations will be published in the Webster Word and the Bulletin in the weeks to come.
We have been dealing with an ongoing problem with our well. Numerous tests from the County Health Department have turned up negative. This essentially means our well is contaminated. Despite numerous attempts to chlorinate the well, we’re still getting poor tests results. We don’t know the cause, but suspect that the proximity to the septic tank might be the cause. Nevertheless, we need a new well. Please consider contributing additional funding (and designating it as “well fund”) so that we can address this health issue. In the meantime, please do not consume the water.
We are facing a financial deficit for the upcoming year. Our pledges are significantly lower than in the previous years. We will need to adjust our budget accordingly. If you would like more information, please see me or Art Helton for details.
Respectfully Submitted,
