Webster WordMessage from the Moderator
I often measure my days by the events unfolding in my garden and so I note the early blooms of my witch-hazel are faded, but the daffodils and quince are ready to burst open. It is said that gardeners truly know the meaning of “faith” because we are hopeful and confident in our belief in the returning growth of all our plants and trees. Such is my faith in the future and growth of the Webster Congregational Christian Church. Our Lenten and Easter services are over, and we felt both the suffering and joy of those days portrayed in the Scriptures. Alas, our attendance was down at our church events, but we are looking ahead to all our activities with hope and faith intact. There has been great interest in our promotion to lease the facilities/space at the Church building and we hope the community-at-large will support our financial situation by renting the Social Hall, Sanctuary and/or kitchen. As such, we have a strong effort underway to make these spaces attractive and fresh, with all the proper equipment in place. Other churches in the area have been doing this for years, and we now know we can attract many other groups, organizations and individuals outside the Church to come here for their space needs. I hope you will notice our improvements to these rental areas as we proceed. I also hope you have noticed the new paper recycling bin in the Church parking lot, secured by Graham Silsby, Chair of the Trustees. We are asking all our members and friends to support this fundraising effort by placing all your business and personal waste paper (no cardboard) in the bin and we in turn will be paid by the processor for our contributions of paper. We want to do all we can to be a “green” church and not be wasteful of God’s bounty nor defile our beautiful spaces. Don’t forget to reach out to your neighbors, friends and new people in your community and tell them about our village Church, where friendships and love of God can be found in abundance. We are all the witnesses for this Church and we must do all we can to share this experience. Spread the Word
