OFFICIAL BOARD MEETING REVIEW
March 19. 2007
Ten Board members present plus 5 non-members.
Pastor:
- On Sunday, March 25 th, the Confirmation Class celebrated with the Wesleyan Chapel Praise Team.
Treasurer’s Report:
- As of March 19, 2007, there is a balance of $91.24 in the checking account.
- There have been unusual expenses and some higher than usual expenses: $1,000 deductible to fix the siding, pay-off for heat strips at $1,888, $1,200 electric bill, and $1,000 oil bill.
- The revenue for January, February, and March appears to be on target.
Moderator:
- $4,012 taken from Endowment to pay current bills including property insurance premium of $2,000.
Old Business:
- No response to cutting down the Bradford pear trees.
- Trees will be replaced when funds are available.
New Business:
- Sanctuary roof is leaking again. Cost to repair is $3,000. Motion made to repair. (Approved)
- Mary McFarland will paint the Girl Scout room.
- There is a need for an Assistant Treasurer.
- Amelia Corpuz asked the board if it would be possible to baptize their child, Lily, when Roman was able to get leave from the Service, probably Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday. The Board felt that under the circumstances it would be okay.
Trustees: (See attached report)
- The installation of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system and the electrical system upgrade has been completed. The oil heat will be used just in the Christian Ed area. The HVAC will be used to heat the Sanctuary and the Social Hall, with the oil heat as a back up.
- A technician from Ferrell Fuel serviced the oil burner.
- Carol Galecki has been hired to clean the church.
- A list of the Trustees and phone numbers for emergency service are posted inside the Boiler Room.
- Merrill and Curtis climbed up into the attic over the sanctuary and observed numerous holes through the fascia boards, explaining why there is so much water getting in the ceiling and walls. A quote to fix this is forth coming.
Stewardship:
- Motion made to amend the $4,012 from the Endowment into the correct categories of the Budget: Add to Capital Improvement $1,880, and add to the Trustees $2,132 for unanticipated expenses.
Christian Ed:
- The children will be divided into 2 groups for Sunday school. Dianna Bartlett and Mary McFarland will teach the older children and the four other teachers will teach the younger children. Also, the middle-schoolers will work with the very young children.
- Easter egg hunt on March 31 st from 2 to 4pm.
- Vacation Bible School will be July 8-12, 2007.
- Graduation Sunday will be June 10th.
Music:
- The Deacons would have the final say about worship and the music committee would have the final say about music.
Outreach:
- To advertise on the Harford Bulletin Board (Cable), the information has to be submitted 45 days in advance of the event.
- Looking into the recycling of the present sign or purchasing a new sign for Webster Church.
Deacons:
- April 1st is Palm Sunday.
- April 5 Maundy Thursday service is at 6 P.M. There will be a light meal followed by a service and blessing of the hands.
- Comfirmands will help with the Good Friday service on April 6.
- April 8th, Easter Sunday breakfast will be served at 9 AM, followed by the Easter Sunday service at 11 AM.
- Confirmation Sunday is April 29th. The service will be followed by a lunch and get together at the Barn at the Hower’s
SCCW:
- March 14th meeting held at Webster Church; guest speaker was Michelle Christman.
- Our Mother Child Banquet will be on May 12th. The theme will be American Idol.
- We are planning an American turkey dinner.
- Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 18 th at 7 pm.
Fundraising:
- Yard Sale to be held in May.
- Saturday, June 23 - Doug Matingly Concert
- Saturday, August 18 Peach Festival
- Saturday, September 29 - Church Supper
